Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry can correct a number of aesthetic issues affecting the color, shape and size of the teeth. Depending on the specific treatment, cosmetic dentistry can improve the look of the following:

To be successful, cosmetic dentistry requires the artistic eye and technical skill of a dental team like Kois Dentistry. Our cosmetic dentists are known for delivering exceptional care and stunning results that look natural. They have undergone extensive training in their specialties and strive to offer the highest quality of care possible. Considered leaders in the dental industry, our team is also involved with helping other dentists hone their skills through the Kois Center, a learning center dedicated to restorative dentistry.

By combining their expertise with advanced dental technology, such as digital imaging, laser energy, and in-office restoration fabrication, our dentists can provide more comfortable and efficient dental visits with beautiful outcomes. In addition, our patients have the opportunity to actively participate in the creation of their treatment plans. This is made possible with our sophisticated intraoral camera, which magnifies areas of the mouth and displays the images on a monitor. This in-depth evaluation and smile analysis process allows patients to better understand the health of their teeth, helping them make more informed and confident decisions about their dental care.

Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are a versatile dental restoration that can conceal a number of perceived dental flaws. Shaped like tiny porcelain shells, veneers are slipped over the front surface of the teeth and bonded into place. They can be used to mask small chips or cracks, improve the tooth shape or size, create uniformity between the teeth and close small spaces between the teeth. Veneers are custom-crafted to each patient’s unique specifications and designed to blend in with the surrounding teeth for a flawless result. Modern materials are very strong and last for many years with the proper care.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a process that uses chemicals to bleach the teeth. The treatment can bleach deep-set stains and whiten the overall shade of the teeth. Teeth whitening can be performed in the office, under the supervision of our dentists, or at-home with a take-home bleaching kit. The advantages of in-office whitening include a short treatment time, quick results and the fact that the dentist can control the bleaching ingredients to prevent sensitivity. At-home teeth whitening is convenient and can be performed to accommodate your schedule.

Orthodontic treatment can not only improve the appearance of crooked or improperly spaced teeth, but also the health of the mouth and prevent more serious dental problems in the future. Traditional orthodontic systems use metal wires and brackets to help guide teeth into the proper position and alignment. For those wanting a less noticeable solution, our board-certified orthodontist may recommend lingual braces, which are similar to traditional braces but the wires and brackets are attached the tongue side of the teeth. In addition, we offer treatment with Invisalign®, which uses a series of custom-created, clear plastic aligners to gradually shift teeth into the desired position and alignment. The aligners are comfortable to wear and can be removed for eating and drinking. And, because they are clear, they are virtually invisible, making them an attractive option to patients that want to straighten their teeth in an inconspicuous manner. Total Invisalign treatment time varies by patient, but most wear their aligners for approximately a year before achieving the desired results. Our dentists monitor all orthodontic patients regularly to ensure the teeth are moving and straightening properly.

Laser Gum Recontouring

Some patients are perfectly satisfied with the size, shape and color of their teeth—yet are self-conscious of their gums. Prominent or excessive gum tissue, also known as a “gummy smile,” can cover up a significant portion of the teeth, sometimes causing them to look uneven. This can make the teeth appear short and distract from your smile. With the help of our state-of-art laser technology, our cosmetic dentists can carefully remove excess tissue and recontour the gums so they look proportional and complement the teeth. The result is a more balanced gums-to-teeth ratio, producing the beautiful smile you desire.

Metal Free, Aesthetic Restorations

Dental restorations are custom-designed to correct the unique issues affecting the form and function of your teeth. These problems are often caused by tooth damage or decay, and with our aesthetic restorations, our dentists can improve the structure of your tooth with exceptionally natural-looking results. In addition to veneers, our team offers solutions like porcelain inlays and onlays, crowns and bridges. Inlays and onlays are crafted from a durable porcelain material and are used to repair moderate damage to the back teeth. Inlays fill the indented section of a tooth’s chewing surface, while onlays cover more of the tooth’s surface, often when a filling is not enough to repair the structure. If the damage is too severe, a crown (or “cap”) may be necessary to completely cover the tooth to reinforce its structure. When a tooth is missing, a bridge can replace the gap, using the adjacent teeth for support. All restorations at Kois Dentistry are customized to the unique characteristics of your teeth, ensuring an aesthetic outcome.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored composite fillings are a safer, more attractive and enduring alternative to metal fillings. Tooth-colored fillings are hardly noticeable and can give you the confidence to smile without worry about unattractive amalgam work. Patients may be concerned about the safety of amalgam work and prefer to avoid metal fillings for peace of mind. Drs. Dean and Tara Kois are committed to providing metal-free dentistry to all patients.

Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic bonding can improve the appearance of teeth by either repairing or concealing concerns, such as chipped, cracked, worn or discolored teeth. This strong, tooth-colored resin is applied to the affected area and carefully shaped to look like your natural tooth. A special light is then used to harden this material, making it a permanent part of your tooth. Bonding is a more conservative alternative to restorations like porcelain veneers, which often require some degree

While cosmetic dentistry beautifies the teeth (and sometimes the gums), many treatments have no bearing on the health or function of the teeth. Cosmetic solutions can be combined with each other or with a restorative dentistry treatment to achieve the desired results.
